Pretty and Petite

One of my much-loved purchases this year has been my Petite Elf avatar, so when I saw that Evie's Closet had some items for Petites I raced over and was delighted to find this lovely dress for FREE! It is called Nyria Petite Dress.

While I was there I saw these gorgeous chairs called {Hanging Chairs} Tiny Chairs for Petites, so I grabbed them as well. They are 150L and come with sits for singles and friends. Perfect for those Petite tree parties!

I am honoured and excited to bring you items from the Back to Black event. This event was created my Chic Management to promote mental well being awareness. It is also an event that is as personal to its creators as it is to me, but more on that later.

This is not a charity event. It is an opportunity for designers to sell their wares and to bring your attention to the many amazing and creative people who go about their days while dealing with all sorts of mental health issues.

Some of these people have created the stunning items I will be showing you, and they have even had the courage to share their stories with you so, if you buy something, make sure you read the notecards inside the packs. They are stories of struggle and hope and I know they will encourage and inspire you as much as they did for me.

I said to a friend the other day that each year I find one Valentines dress that makes me go,"WOW!". I also told her that I had not found that extra special one yet...but, today I did.

Poulet from PurpleMoon Creations released her group gift and when I saw the pic I knew it was 'the one'. Still, you never quite know until you try it on, so I did, and it was!

52 Weeks of Colour Challenge - Alice Blue

I know I am doing Colour Challenge posts back-to-back, but if you read the Patina post you would know why.

In contrast, this colour was a blast. I found the dress in my inventory while looking for the patina one and although it wasn't quite the picture I had in my head, I didn't find anything better colour-wise so I went with what I had.

52 Weeks of Colour Challenge - Patina

When I first saw this colour I was not sure what I would do with it. Then my laptop needed surgery, so I knew I would be doing a catchup. This was ok, cos I needed more time with it anyway.

My laptop came back after a week and still I had no ideas and nothing to patina-esque to wear. Today I realised the new colour starts tomorrow so I had to get my act together.

At some point I gave up and started looked for items for next week's colour in my inventory, and somehow found this. It came out bluer than I thought, but I had reached the non-caring point!

So, here is patina. I don't like the colour anymore, although this dress completely rocks.

Perfecting Patina

Patina is a color I normally wouldn't have in my inventory/closet. I'm more of deep blue, green, grey, or black kind of guy. However, this challenge opened my eyes to the options Patina has to offer. 2012 is now in full swing in SL and RL. I am wondering what the year will bring. 2011 brought us new viewers and the onslaught of mesh. I am really looking forward to seeing what initiatives and developments wow us this year.

I will say I have two complaints about the new LL viewer which I need to get off my chest.

The Camera - Grrr! You can't set your own custom settings that stay set when you log in next time. You have to reset everything, everytime and it is laborious and annoying.
In 'Recent' in the inventory you used to be able to move items around. This was handy when you had hunt items you wanted to put into one folder. Now you can't and this sucks.

Ok, I am building a bridge and getting over it...

Hanging at Ho Wear

One of the fun things I did over the holidays was the hunt at Ho Wear. Heidi always puts out some awesome stuff and I had a blast finding the boxes. I am hoping it is still going but if it is not you can just drool over what I got and remember to do it next year!

Two Years

I realised today that I have been blogging for two years. Now, you might well be saying, "So?". Well, the fact is that I didn't know if I would last a year, let alone two. It is a fickle game and not one for the faint hearted. Sometimes it is a grind, but mostly I love it.

I will confess that there have been times when I have been tempted to let it go, but they pass quickly, thank goodness.

For those of you out there who are thinking about blogging then here are some positives and negatives from me.

Positives:

The awesome designers and event organisers I have met and am now friends with. I love you all dearly and you have been there for me. Thank you SO, SO much.
The people who read my rabid ramblings. You are awesome and thanks for sticking with me.
The amazing clothes, furniture, houses, poses and accessories that I have had the honour to blog. Where would a blogger be without them?
The cool people I have met on hunts. Thanks for your help. I would have been a lot more frustrated without you.

Negatives:

The time I have spent. Sometimes it means I miss out on stuff in SL. I have had to decline invites to dance, listen to music and generally hang out, cos I have had to get a blog post done.
The money I have spent. Do NOT think that blogging is about getting free stuff, cos it is not. I DJ to keep my blogging addiction alive. This is not a whine, cos I love it and would spend it all over again.
It is a mostly thankless task. I get feedback from designers, but I seriously would love to hear more from the people who read this blog. Ok, that was a bit of a whine. Sorry.

There ya have it. The good, the bad and the ugly of blogging. And now I have some people I really have to name and thank.

I wandered over to Designer Prims today to have a look at Elle's new store and layout, and while I was drooling over all her houses, skyboxes and furniture, I thought I would see what hunts were going on there.

Winter is Coming

My name is Arya. It is a name I chose with careful thought and deliberation. I love to read and, at the time I joined SL, I was reading George RR Martin's 'Song of Ice and Fire' series, so I chose my favourite character from those books for my SL name. I would have been Stark too, but we couldn't pick our last names back then and by the time we could I was Arya Braveheart and it didn't seem right to change.

Arya Stark is, in the books, fearless and cunning and full of fight. She also balks at the idea of being a 'lady' like her sister, Sansa. I liked this about her. She is a scrapper and stands up for what is right.

So, when I saw that Cracked Mirror had these Mesh jackets for 100L in Taste of SL I raced to grab one.

They also have Lannister, Tully, Dothraki, Baratheon,and Targayen jackets for 200L.

Now, I did have slight fitting issues with only small and large on offer (male and female sizes), so be aware. But, I was clever and used an alpha for another mesh jacket I own and it worked. Yay.

I would also like to point out, since I am a literary snob, that unless you have read the books you cannot be a passionate Game of Thrones fan! Just saying.

PS: I also had an avi named Daenrys, but she sadly got killed off...

Getting Chilly in SL

As I am wandering about SL I am seeing snow about and even a few Christmas decorations. Fall seems short in SL as we look forward to snowy sims and snuggly clothes.

I will confess that I have succumbed to the winter vibe. I promised myself that I wouldn't 'winter up' my place til the 1st of December, but yesterday I broke that promise and out came the fireplace and winter items.

Today I will begin to throw snow about outside my wee house to surround the ice rink that is already there. I am hopeless.

Anyway, here are some awesome clothes and items that have been piling up while the Vintage Fair took over my world.

FTLO's Black Market is now open and there is some awesome items to be had at amazingly low, low prices! I had a blast looking at all the amazing stuff on offer! The Black Market replaces Saturday Night Fevah and means you don't have to wait til Saturday comes around to get some great things.

Most items retain the SNF 40L ceiling, but with designers able to offer a 100L item that is still sooo cheap! The prices also mean you don't have to sell a kidney to look good, furnish your house, pose or glam up your avi! Hoorah!
